Visit the ancient Thousand Pillar Temple and seek blessings from the deity

The Thousand Pillar Temple as the name suggests has one thousand pillars decorating the temple. This extremely popular ancient temple was built in the year 1163 AD by Kakatiyan rulers named Rudradev and was also named after him as Sri Rudreshwara Swamy Temple. The most striking feature of the temple is that it is built in Trikootalaya style. The presiding deity in the temple is Rudreshawara and other two are Lord Surya and Lord Vishnu. A beautifully constructed giant “Nandi”- can be seen on the platform which connects the shrines in the mandap. The slabs on the ceiling, exterior walls and the four pillars of the navarangal mandap have deities sculpted on them.

How to reach the Thousand Pillar Temple

The Thousand Pillars Temple is located in Hanamkonda part of the Warangal City. It is situated at about 6 kms from the Warangal Railway Station and the bus Station and at 9 kms from Kazipet Junction. The site of the temple is also well connected with the bus service which makes it easily accessible.
