NagarjunaSagar Dam is counted among the largest dams built in Asia. It is constructed on the Krishna River and supplies the water for irrigation to many parts of Telangana and Hyderabad. The entire stretch of the dam spans from Andhra Pradesh to Nalgonda district of Telangana. NagarjunaSagar Dam is situated at a distance of 160 kms from Guntur district and 150 km from Hyderabad. To make the dam a tourist attraction, a lake has also been developed near the dam, which is said to be the 3rd largest man made lake in the world. At present, Nagarjuna Lake is the only way through which you can reach Nagarjunakonda Island, which is home to a museum which is a popular attraction. Apart from the lake, there are several other attractions near the dam, which include Ethipothala waterfalls and Srisailam Wildlife Reserve.

Hyderabad is the nearest airport to NagarjunaSagar Dam, which is located at 150 kilometres from the city. You can also take regular buses from Guntur and Hyderabad. The nearest railway station from NagarjunaSagar Dam is Mancherla which is at about 24 kilometres.
