Pochampad Dam is one of the biggest irrigation projects in India, which serves five districts of Telangana, namely Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Nizamabad and Warangal. The site of the dam is quite amazing and hence drawing many tourists from the state as well as India. There is also a Ram Mandir near the dam to which many pilgrims come to pay homage and seek blessings. Sriramsagar reservoir is formed by the Pochampad dam and will solve a lot of water related problems of large parts of Telangana.
How to reach Pochampad Dam?
The Project is located in Nizamabad district merely 3 km away from NH 44. It can easily be reached by road and rail. The nearest railway station is Nizamabad and you can catch a taxi to reach the site. The ideal time to visit the place is monsoons as the reservoir swells with water during that period. Winters are also a good time to visit as the weather is quite pleasant.
