Visit the ancient Srimukhalingam village

Famous for its Srimukhalingeswara Temple, Srimukhalingam is a village nestled in the Srikakulam District in Andhra Pradesh. The temple is situated on the left banks of the river River Vamsadhra and is dedicated to three forms of Lord Shiva i.e. Someswara, Mukhalingeswara and Bhimeswara. Built in the 9th Century AD by the Ganga Kings, the temple reflects Indo-Aryan style of architecture. At the entrance of the temple there is a huge arched gate and there are two sculptures of lions located on each side of the gate to welcome the pilgrims. The walls of the temple are carved with the images of various gods and goddesses in different poses and avatar.

How to reach?
The best time to visit the temple is during the festive occasion of Mahashivararti. The village is well connected to the network of roads and 35 kilometres from the Srikakulam District. You can travel in the train till Srikakulam Railway Station, which is the nearest railway station and then reach the village via road in your vehicle, bus or cab.
