Anamudi, the highest peak located in Munnar, the western ghats of Kerala. It is one of the awesome and a great place to visit and is must to see. This lies in between Cardamon hills, Palani hills and Annamalai hills. It is known for its scenic and natural beauty of its hill slopes and the cool breeze with mind blowing chilled atmosphere here makes us feel that you are in heaven and like walking on the clouds. The mountains here look like elephants forehead.
This peak is wonderful for hiking. Bus service is available to reach some extent to this peak and you need to walk some more distance to reach this on to the top. You will come to see the mountains covered with green forests inhabited by the flora and fauna and also waterfalls and springs while you are walking. Also you will be able to see deers, goats and some more wild animals.
How to reach
Summer and winter are the best suitable seasons to visit this peak. It is at a distance of 13 kms and takes about an hour to reach anamudi from munnar. Regular cabs, buses and coaches are available to reach this place. But to reach the peak, you have to trek on the grass slopes. If you are thinking to catch a train, then Pollachi Junction Railway Station is the nearest one, which is 51 km away from Eravikulam National Park.
