Bhagwan Mahavir Government Museum is an archaeological museum situated in Kadapa city. The museum was established by the government in the year 1982 in order to protect the artifacts that were of archaeological importance. The name was chosen Mahavira because the museum was funded by a Jain businessman and Lord Mahavira is the deity of Jains. The museum has idols of gods like Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman. These idols are as old as 5th to 18th century. These antiquities have been unearthed in excavations carried out in different regions like Kurnool, Hyderabad and Kadapa.
