Macherla is a town in Guntur district and is among the 12 municipalities in the district. The town has a rich history associated with it and many of the attractions in the town stand testimony to it. The most famous tourist spot of the town is Sri Laxmi Chennakesava Swamy Temple, which was built in the 13th Century AD. Another temple which is dedicated to Veerabhadra Swamy is located in the old town. The Nagarjunakonda museum is also a place worth visiting.
