Located in the capital city Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala, Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple is the richest temple of Hindus in this world. This is one of the 108 great temples of Lord Vishnu and has seven storeyed gopuram. The main idol of lord Vishnu is of 18ft long and is seen in anantha sayanam posture on a five headed serpent.
The temple was renovated by the king of Travancore, Marthanda Varma. And his family was dedicated to serve the lord and since then they are called Padmanabha dasa. The architecture of the temple is of Dravidian style. The architecture of the temple is in stone with innumerable stone carvings and bronze with mesmerizing paintings and colorful murals. The dhwaja sthamba is of 80ft height.
This temple is a primary place for worship in a beautiful ambience that attracts every tourist’s heart. Only Hindus are permitted to enter into the temple and devotees have to strictly follow the dress code. The dhotis are available outside the temple at rental basis.
