The place Mattupetty in Munnar is famous for cattle farming. Mattupetty Indo Swiss Dairy farm is one of the prime attractions and is abundantly rich in nature. Situated at a height of 1700 m, Mattupetty farm is known home for its highly specialized Indo Swiss Livestock Project. This project was initiated in 1963 and was established between the Government of India and the Swiss Confederation.

We can see 100 varieties of high-yielding cattle that are reared here including cows and breeding bulls. This is considered as the holy land for the cattle herders who comes here. Tourists are allowed only at fixed timings into this farm. The unique experience you get is when you enter into the farm and see the cattle grazing freely over the lush green areas of the farm campus.

The best time to visit this farm is from September to March.

How to reach

The nearest airport to the farm is Cochin international airport is which is at a distance of 130 kms. Kochi is the nearest railway station that is 130 km. Mattuppetti is 13 km from Munnar by road. However the city is well connected by all means of transport.
