Singareni Collieries Company – A treasure of coal deposits

The Singareni Collieries Company is a government coal mining company nestled in the Karimnagar District in Telangana. The company is jointly owned by the Government of India and the Government of Telangana on 49:51 equity terms. The coal reserves of the company spread across a land of 350 kilometres on the Pranahita-Godavari Valley in Telangana. Geologically it is proven that the reserves comprises of gigantic 8791 million tonnes of coal. The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) currently operates 34 underground mines and 15 opencast in 4 districts of Telangana and features with manpower of around 62,805.


Extracting coal without harming the environment
The company is named after the village Singareni located in Khammam District, where the coal mines were first discovered. The technologies used by the company to harvest coal from the mines are environmental friendly. In fact the company has taken several steps to maintain the beauty of the nature and to maintain the quality of life. All the coal mines are developed as lush green belts and the air and water quality available in the area are checked on a regular basis. The company also encourages plantation and social forestry by supplying free saplings to its employees at the advent of the monsoon season.
