NTPC stands for National Thermal Power Corporation, which is a 2600 MW power station nestled in Ramagundam in the Karimnagar District of Telangana. Currently, it is the largest thermal power station in the South India and is the first ISO 14001 certified super thermal power station in India.
Know how the power is generated
The corporation is blessed with two TG halls or Turbo Generator Halls, which is the place where the turbine generators are placed. The first TG Hall is designated to STAGE – 1, while the second one is common for both STAGE – 2 and STAGE – 3. The TG halls feature with giant cranes for transportation of materials during overhauls.

Located in amidst of the scenic views of the nature, NTPC plant is divided into three stages. The Stage 1 comprises three units i.e. Unit 1, 2 and 3 and each unit come with a generation capacity of 200 MW. Stage 2 also consists of three units i.e. Unit 4, 5 and 6 and each of them have a generation capacity of 500 MW. Stage 3 features with one unit i.e. Unit 7, having generation capacity of 500 MW and is the first computer operated power station in South India. This thermal plant can be a great place of learning for the engineers.
