Golconda Fort is a well known tourist destination in Hyderabad and is frequented by almost all the tourists who come to Hyderabad. It lies in the Rangareddy district of Hyderabad and commands immense beauty and magnificence of architecture. The fort was built by the Kakatiya rulers as their western defence. The region near the Golconda Fort is also known for the mines which have produced the Kohinoor diamond and Nassak diamond. It was the Golconda Fort where these diamonds were kept in a vault. There are four different forts which collectively form the Golconda Fort. The area inside the fort cane distinguished as halls, apartments, temples and stables. Regular sound and light shows are held at the Golconda fort where the visitors are taken to the bygone eras.
