Bhongir Fort is located in Bhongir, Nalgonda district, Hyderabad, India. It is located on a huge rock and was built by the Chalukya ruler, TribhuvanmallaVikramaditya VI in the 10th Century. Bhongir town derives its name from this fort. The fort is spread across an enormous area of almost 50 acres and lies atop a 500 foot monolithic rock.The fort resembles an egg like structure and has two entry points. The fort is also believed to have an underground chamber which connects the fort to Golconda Fort which is located at a distance of 50 kilometres.
Getting to the Bhongir Fort
Bhongiri fort is connected by road as well as rail. It is located at a distance of 48 km from the state capital, Hyderabad and can easily be reached by bus or a taxi. The ideal time to visit the place is in the winters as the weather is perfect for sightseeing.
